Stranger Things’ Nancy Wheeler’s Outfits Ranked

These looks would stop the Mind Flayer dead in its tracks.

If you’ve watched even a single episode of Stranger Things, you know that Nancy Wheeler (Natalia Dyer) is not only the MVP of the series, she’s also a fashion ICON, hunny.

Netflix

I mean it’s easy to see who in this photo is pulling off their perm.

From Season 1 to Season 4, this girl is bringing you ’80s FASH-ION at its best! And with each costume change, the Hawkins teen elicits a Gay Gasp™ out of this Nancy superfan.

And because I can’t think a better use of one’s time than to rank every single outfit Nance has worn throughout the series (yes, even including PAJAMAS), that’s exactly what I did. You’re welcome. : )

(Warning: this post contains minor spoilers and dangerous beauty)

32.

The Basiqué Pink Blouse

Netflix

I mean… not a lot going on here, huh? Like not even a necklace to zhuzh it up? Definitely one of her most forgettable, but we still love her.

31.

The Striped Poolside “Cool Girl” Look

Netflix

Ok, I feel like people might be mad about this. BUT LISTEN! Is the top cute? Yes. But it’s not Nance. She’s trying to be someone that she just isn’t.

30.

The Lil Pink Jam-jams

Netflix

Welcome to cozy town! This flannel number is begging you to make a hot chocolate and put on some slippers. But sadly that doesn’t get you the top spot.

29.

The Sweaty Pink Tee

Netflix

When exorcising a demon, it’s best to come “dressed to move.” Points for practicality, minus for pit stains. (It happens to the best of us.)

28.

The Gray Turtle Gray Coat or GTGC

Netflix

This look is what the French would call “A LOT OF GRAY.” It’s a little uninspired, but it does look expensive.

27.

The Funeral Chic

Netflix

It’s hard to know what to wear to your friend’s fake funeral, and this black ensemble is simple yet effective.

26.

The Just Add Scrunchie

Netflix

Oh, we love a versatile look, girl! With the simple twist of a scrunch we’ve become a different woman. A must-have for every girl and gay’s wardrobe.

25.

The Pop o’ Pink Turtle

Netflix

This look says “I may be swimming in a thick knit, but I’m still fun!” With just a touch of whimsy, this turtleneck somehow lets us know she’s not all business.

24.

The Embroidered Big Sister PJ Set

Netflix

This look is v important to the Nancy Wheeler Cinematic Universe. It’s the outfit we first meet her in. The silhouette is simple, but the embroidery is aspirational.

23.

The Stride of Pride Hooded Coat

Netflix

After a night spent with Steve Harrington, this hooded piece lets Mrs. Wheeler know her daughter owes her no explanations about the night’s events.

22.

The Long-Distance Relationship Sweater

Netflix

LRDs are not for the feint of heart, and wearing this marled sweater feels just like a hug from your kinda spooky boyfriend in California.

21.

The I Saw My Neighbor Eat Fertilizer

Netflix

When I imagine seeing my elderly neighbor devolving into an Upside Down creature, my first thought is “STRIPED DRESS!” She really nailed it here.

20.

The Cashmere Young Woman

Netflix

This sweater is so pretty I’m actually a little upset. I can SEE how soft it is. And I don’t know if you know how “soft” works, but usually you have to touch it to know.

19.

The Homework Hottie Look

Netflix

This is claaaaaassic Nance. She’s layered. She’s buttoned. She’s a good girl….but is she???

18.

The Day to Upside Down Look

Netflix

I don’t know how many times I’ve looked for the perfect outfit that can seamlessly transition from work to the underworld. Truly too many times to count!

17.

The “It’s Easter Somewhere!” Skirt-suit

Netflix

*Technically* both of these outfits are Nancy’s, and while they are admittedly a lot to take in, there’s something kind of exciting about this pastel visual assault, right?

16.

The Sorry He’s My Boyfriend

Netflix

Christmastime is for lovers. And for letting boys with crushes on you know that you went back to your ex. This sweater/jean skirt combo does both so well.

15.

The “I’m a Very Busy Reporter Lady” Dress

Netflix

HELLO, I AM BUSINESS! AND I’M IN A HURRY, FOR BUSINESS’ SAKE! OUT OF MY WAY, I’VE GOT TO GET TO BUSINESS!

14.

The Confessions Of A Teenage Monster Hunter

Netflix

You never forget the first time you lure a Demogorgon into a death trap filled with guns, bear traps, and gas-fueled flames. Ah, the memories :’)

13.

The I See Her Everywhere Look

Netflix

When your best friend, Barb, gets eat-ed by a big ol’ monster, you want to be looking your best just in case she miraculously reappears in homeroom.

12.

The Baby’s First Espionage

Netflix

It’s giving spy. It’s giving “nothing to see here.” It’s giving “yes I carry a smaller purse inside my Mary Poppins Bag, and what of it?”

11.

The “It’s Bullshit” Ribbon Sweater Set

Netflix

Remember the NWCU (Nancy Wheeler Cinematic Universe)? Well, this is another pivotal moment where she really cements “bullshit” as her most iconic catchphrase.

10.

The I’m Gonna Save This Goddamn Town Look

Netflix

Now, can everyone pull off looking like a ’90s styrofoam Jazz Cup? No. Does Nancy? OBVIOUSLY! JUST LOOK AT HER!

9.

THE Sweater

Netflix

Is this look a little basic? It is. But this is soooooooo Nancy Season 1, and we love her for it. This is probably the second look you think of when you think of Nance.

8.

The “I’ll Tell You Exactly Where You Can Shove This Coffee”

Netflix

Being a woman in a man’s world is hard, and this looks screams “say one more fucking word and I’ll choke you with my mint belt. Ok, Mr. Patriarchy?”

7.

The I Own 50% Of This Library

Netflix

This look is CRISP!!! I am having a physical reaction just looking at it. Don’t you want it on your body? It’s casual and yet so POWERFUL!

6.

The Ribbons Are A Girl’s Best Friend

Netflix

Ok, this sweater is capital “C” Cute. And in my brain I feel like it should be lower on the list because it’s pretty basic, but in my heart it had to be #6. Just my truth.

5.

The I Will Melt Your Heart At The Snowball Look

Netflix

Tell me you don’t see this dress and immediately want to start crying. Nancy danced with Dustin in this dress and it’s one of the most precious moments in ST history.

4.

The Monologue Dress

Netflix

Nance did a lot of things in this dress; escaping a nightmare hospital being one of them. But the most important was the kitchen heart-to-heart she had with her mom. I think about this interaction a lot. A LOT. It’s a top series moment for me.

3.

The Yes I’m Going To Emerson

Netflix

I would wear this every day if I could. It’s casual. It’s cool. It’s effortless. It works with the cardi or without. The color combo is pure genius. And the Emerson tee lets everyone know she’s smart AND stunning. It’s everything Nance is and everything I want to be.

2.

The Goddamn Badass And Don’t You Forget It

Netflix

THIS. MOMENT. THIS. OUTFIT. WHO IS MORE BADASS THAN NANCY WHEELER?!?!?!? It’s giving POWER, hunny. It’s giving “I might not have superpowers but I have something better: FEARLESSNESS!”

1.

The Quintessential Nance

Netflix

This is Nance. This is the most iconic outfit in the NWCU. This was the “a-ha” moment for us all, where we really got to see who Nancy Wheeler is. She’s so much more than just the popular girl in high school. She is whip-smart, cool as hell, and the boldest b in Hawkins, IN. Without her the whole crew would crumble. Thank you for you service, Nancy Wheeler.
